Character quality for July:
Discretion vs. simplemindedness -
Recognizing and avoiding words, actions, and attitudes that could bring undesirable consequences.
As you’ll see on our marketing material, on our business cards and throughout our website, our value statement is “Exceptional Service…People of Character.” We recognize that developing character is a life-long process, so we have incorporated the Character Training Institute’s Character First! program into our organization. Character First! is a language-based program that defines character qualities and encourages participants to develop positive habits in every-day life.
Each month, we get together and one of our team members leads a discussion on the character quality for that month. This month our character quality is Discretion - recognizing and avoiding words, actions, and attitudes that could bring undesirable consequences.
And each team member is recognized by their peers for a character quality on their annual anniversary of employment with Volk & Bell. You’ll see these noted in our bios on our team page.
You can find out more about the Character First! program at http://www.characterfirst.com.
